So I know that the blog has been slow lately, but really not much has happened. We are starting to help the people of Mosul rebuild their city a bit. We go out and meet with the city leadership and Iraqi contractors. We ensure that they have the right contractors for some of the projects we identified, things like garbage pickup, street clean up , raising all the power lines that our trucks seem to tear down every time we drive through the villages. I did add some new pictures to the Mosul category though. Some pictures of the grand mosque and pictures of the city to give you an idea how large of an area we have to cover. And it is not just my company covering it. We have an entire brigade out here to work the city. Recently we had an IED go off on some dismounted engineers. Fortunately no one was killed though. A couple guys ended up going to Germany to get worked on, but no one died.
So we are almost done with the deployment. I go home on R&R in May, then when I get back we have about a month and a half left until we start heading home. We are all looking forward to it. Although we have been here a while, the time has gone by fast. I have also taken a video of the city that I uploaded onto You Tube. Also, when I was climbing down from the wall, there was an IA soldier listening to music on his cell phone. I told him to dance to it, and I shot that video as well. Pretty funny actually. I will include links when the vids upload.
