So we had Christmas in Iraq. It was a pretty nice day. All of the platoons shared tower guard, we were visited by our Brigade Commander, Col. Piatt. We had a very nice dinner with turkey, ham, roast, ribs, mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing and desert. After dinner, our platoon went on what was supposed to be a 2 hour OP, but it turned into a 6 hour recovery mission when a dirt canal crossing gave way and one of our MRAPS rolled over into the canal. No one was hurt, the MRAP suffered minor exterior damage and when the vehicle was uprighted we drove it off back to the base.
