Another school. This one is smaller than the one that is being built in the previous town. Every small town has a school, so they don't need a large one like we do
So we went on yet another SWT Mission. This one was nice because we got to see a new school being built. The best part is this is now being done with Iraqi money. All we do is check on the progress and ensure that local workers are building it rather than just relatives of the village leader.
One thing that I marvel at is how the Iraqi's live in what we would consider sqallor. But if you think about it, this is all they know, and they are happy. Also, I notice that a lot of the smaller villages all have houses that are circled so as to make a central courtyard. And the maintenance of the courtyard is always a community effort, as is cooking. I notice several women get together and make large quantities of flat bread that they all share.
The kids coming out of school was cool. We don't see that much and I am glad to see that education is still important, and also that boys and girls are all atending school. Not that this will really matter much to the girls as they will typically be married off when they are 17 or so, and probably an arraged deal with a cousin.
