Camels being herded. At the enterance of our PB. This was done all free hand. The names are of the commander and1sgt. The smaller names are the platoon leaders and platoon sergeants. Our is the last ones Kids in the town where we had lunch with the sheikh
More kids. They love to have their picture taken Kids getting treats from Spc Hunziker, our RTO Most homes have stairs that lead to the roof. Most homes don't have AC, so they sleep on the roof in the summer months
Most villages don't have a water system, so they have these tanks on the outside of their homes that are filled when they need it. Me and Jason after eating lunch with the Sheikh. He would not let us take a picture of him or the inside of the house unfortunately These homes are outside of our base. They are much more modern than the ones we usually see
This entire area is pretty much the same with the modern homes Not even a mile away, more mud homes. These are the farmers Farmers working the fields. Not sure what they are growing in the winter though
Sunset in Iraq This donkey ends up in our motor pool once in a while. He likes to roll in the dirt there It is cold in the towers at night
Sunrise in Iraq The birds get very close to us in the towers One of four foxes that were playing around the base on night
Me and Doc (our medic) coming back from a mission. Sheikh Bruce Sheikh Bruce and Frank, the terp who bought these for me
Goofing around. Spc Todd tries the LT's hat on for size. Sniper bait. That is what we call people who put themselves in high, easy to shoot positions. Pay day. These are Sons of Iraq getting paid. It takes two full days to accomplish this as there are over 500 of them in our area alone
Me. We randomly drive around checking on the SOI, making sure they are OK and getting what they need Me again. Notice the sand? Yeah, although it was not really windy here, we get the remanants of sand storms miles away.
