So today we had some pretty cool and realistic medical training. They had these dummies that breath and bleed. After a short refresher class on some advanced first aid, we broke up into groups of three and went outside the class room. Once we heard the gunfire and mortars, we had to run in to our respective dummies and immediately start addressing their wounds. The one I was on had an amputated leg, open chest wound, wounded arm and a collapsed lung.
We first had to apply a tourniquet onto the leg, then move the patient to a safe area. We then began treating the other wounds. As we were working on him, he developed tension pneumothorax, and I had to put a 14 guage needle in his chest to relieve the air pressure. It was very realistic with fake blood all over the place, the training yelling at us and the sounds of battle. Lots of fun and a great training exercise. I have some great pics that I will upload later.
So, a challenge was posted to anyone in my company. Here are the rules:
Apply a silver dollar size of Icy Hot to hand. Sprinkle some other type of powder in the other hand that causes a burning sensation. For three minutes, the person has to use the Icy Hot as lubricant to masturbate, while cupping his nuts in a vigorous manner. After three minutes, you have to say in a British accent God how I love the Infantry.
Believe it or not, some idiot took the challenge. I am not going to post pictures of this nor the video because it is just not right, but suffice it to say that people will do just about anything for a few bucks.
Boredom has officially set in. We really need to head down range and get to work.
So I have been here about a week. This camp is incredible. We have Starbucks, Burger King, Pizza Inn, Panda Oriental, Nathan's Hot Dogs, Subway, KFC, Green Bean Coffee. We have several Internet cafes and phone centers. We have one of the largest gyms i have ever seen, a movie theater, aerobics gym, rec center, two PX's and a shopette, day spa, barber shop, alterations/embroidery place, jewelry store and others that I forget.
Sort of makes the heat and humidity bearable - almost. Training is going well but we are anxious to head up North to get to work. I know that we are going to be doing some good things for the Iraqi's and I can't wait to get started. There is really no much else to report as Kuwait is not a very exciting place. Once I head up North I will be updating this blog on a more regular basis.
